Submission Guidelines Please review guidelines carefully before submitting your work. UPDATE: Please note that as of 1 February 2012 Barrow Street will no longer accept submissions for the journal via regular mail. Please submit all work using the online submission manager. Follow the instructions and guidelines below. Thank you. We look forward to reading your poems. Barrow Street publishes one print issue a year. Our reading period is from 1 October–31 March. We regret that we cannot respond to submissions made outside the reading period. Before submitting your own work, we highly encourage you to familiarize yourself with previous issues of the journal as a guide to what we publish. Sample poems from earlier issues can be found on the Journal page. You can subscribe to the journal on the Subscription page. General Guidelines Send three to five poems per submission; send only one submission per reading period. Please include the following information on each page of your submission: author's name, mailing address, email address, and telephone number. Submissions without this information will not be considered. Barrow Street does not accept previously published work. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable so long as they are indicated as such. If any work is accepted elsewhere, please withdraw your submission to Barrow Street immediately using the submission manager. Submitting Online Send your submission by using our Online Submission Manager. Follow the directions on how to fill out the provided data fields. Once you have registered with the online submissions system, you will also be able to view the status of your submission, withdraw a submission, or query about a submission. Upload only one file containing your work. Please include a brief cover letter, including a short list of any previous publications, in the "Comments" box. Submissions must be uploaded as a .doc(x), .rtf, or .pdf file. Any files that do not adhere to these guidelines will not be considered for publication. Your saved file name should read: Last name_First name_Genre(.file extension) For example: Spicer_Jack_Poetry.docx When using our online submissions page, please be sure to add Barrow Street's email address (infobarrow@gmail.com) to your spam blocker software so that you can receive correspondence from us. Expect three to six months for a decision. Please do not query until at least six months have passed. If your work is accepted for publication, you will be notified by the editors via email and will receive instructions about the pre–publication process. Barrow Street pays two contributor copies.
